Last November (2019) we weren’t wearing masks or social distancing. Then in 2020 came the pandemic and much has changed. Yet, there are some things that will never change…the church for one thing.
My husband and I live in a retirement community and since this is an older age community, there have been restrictions brought about by the COVID-19 virus. As a visitor driving on to our campus, now you must check in to have your temperature taken and answer questions similar to the requirements at any medical facility to determine if you are safe for the older residents who reside here. Social distancing and masks are still mandatory like many other public places.
With my respiratory health issues, I need to be especially careful. You have seen for yourselves at Burning Hearts Church the influence COVID-19 virus has made. Knowing it’s no surprise to you all that Pastor Doug keeps in touch with us, in spite of our absence, isn’t that so like him: encouraging the Burning Hearts people to be in each other’s lives? I think you would agree fellowship should be more than a Sunday morning event.
Those of you who know us have probably noticed our absence. Peter writes in 1 Peter 4:8-11 about the responsibilities of the church. My concern for the church of Jesus Christ is for the new believer, the seekers and those looking for a church family where Hebrews 10:24 (Amplified Bible) states: “Brothers let us consider (thoughtfully) how we may encourage one another to love and to do good deeds.” True fellowship has as its focus this encouragement of one another.
May God bless us all with the blessings He sees we stand in need of.
